Despite Nigeria’s endowment of over 44 (forty-four) high-value mineral resources in over 500 (five hundred) locations, the mining sector has been under-utilised, thereby contributing to the nation’s under-development.

In a bid to reposition the sector as a key engine of economic growth, the Federal Government of Nigeria (“FGN”), through the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development (“MSMD”), has implemented several reforms in tandem with President Bola Tinubu's vision for a transparent, sustainable, and economically resilient mining sector. This aligns with MSMD's mandate under Section 4(f) of the Nigerian Minerals and Mining Act 2007 to create an enabling environment for investors by providing infrastructure and identifying areas for FGN intervention to support policy goals and mineral resource development.
